It’s time to introduce you to a new friend of mine by the name of Christopher Dubs. Unlike myself, he is a sweet and cheerful soul who writes very happy books for children, all about the adventures of Princess Maybe and her magical friend Huggybear. Their adventures will be available to read soon.
The genesis of the books came when he created these characters for a bedtime story for a friend’s kids, and I think he channelled himself into the sidekick role of Huggybear. Huggy is a very naughty bear, and far too cynical for one of his tender stuffed toy years.
On my ‘Influences’ page there is a post about the wonderful little yellow hardback Rupert books which I read as a child, and this was the format that inspired me, errr I mean him 😉 to create stories that could be read to small children, but with little sketches and rhymes on some of the pages to amuse. And as these stories have a habit of being needed on repeat occasions, there’s plenty for the grown up who is reading to enjoy as well. Who knows, Huggybear may even make a guest post or two in future.
Stay safe,
Kit (and Christopher)
