I mentioned earlier that there were two novels I’d completed drafts of, which were both finished during my career break, and I’m splitting my time a little between the two as we move to the next phase. This second story is my bikers/ skateboarders lit fic novel set in North Wales, and I don’t know if it will suffer from the same fate as some of my previous work; lacking a genre, so difficult to pitch and sell. Problem is, I really like it! This one also doesn’t have a title at the minute, so I’m trying to think of a good pun or meaningful one. We’re currently still labouring under the moniker “Hush” as that is a song that features prominently in the minds of one of the characters. But I think I may send to my lovely alpha readers before I do any more revision, as I have a fundamental issue to address.
Currently, the narrative is split into the stories of five interlinked characters, and as you move on to the next one you learn a bit more about the overall plot arc and relationships from a different perspective. The alternate approach is to divvy the stories up chronologically, which would be more traditionally but might be less fun for the reader. We may have to wait and see what my readers say.
If you fancy being an alpha reader yourself of course, just contact me on twitter @kitderrick1 and let me know. Always happy to have more insights!
Stay safe,
Kit
