Has The Lady Been Yet? is released this week (1st December) and I’m so pleased, though obviously very nervous, that it is finally available for people to read. It was a difficult decision to write the book, challenging to know what to include, and quite painful to write in many places, but if it gives some comfort or insight to one other person, then it will have been worth doing.
I’ll be honest, this isn’t a conventional memoir, and as I say in the opening, I’m not sure exactly how I’d describe it, except to say that it’s a very personal narrative of the impact on me, of looking after my mum after dementia started to impact on her life and behaviour. It talks about the process and signs of the disease which we encountered on the journey, but is mainly focussed on the emotional impact on an adult child as carer.
If you work for a dementia support group who might find the book useful, or aren’t able to buy a copy in these challenging times, please contact me on Twitter @kitderrick1 and I’ll happily send you a free electronic version.
Has The Lady Been Yet? is out on 1st December, and I’m making my novel Man In The Bath free to download from then until Sunday night as well, as a thank you to anyone who visits my website or author page.
Stay safe,
Kit
