Review: To Kiss You Again – Nicola Lowe

This is my first sequel review! I’ve previously posted about The Missed Kiss, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and this is the further adventures of Lily, Zack, Luke, Cassie et al. I’ll admit to a little apprehensiveness when starting, as there’s always the worry in a series of ‘Second Album Syndrome’, and whether it will match up to the first. I needn’t have worried, it does.

I was also hoping (this is difficult to write without spoilers) that there might be a different outcome to the first book, and I’m happy to report that both of Lily’s suitors get the opportunity to win the prize of a future with Lily. I don’t want to get too heavy, but there are some very interesting ethical dilemmas in this novel, and some definite red flags which had me mentally shouting at Lily to wake up (from both men if I’m honest) but it’s a credit to the writing that her reactions are believable and I cared so much that it mattered to me that she wasn’t paying attention to them. It’s fascinating to me that in the first book I came away with Lily’s rose-tinted view that both men were, if anything, too perfect, yet in this one, though she doesn’t recognise it, both seem fatally flawed to me. She should end up with, I don’t know, the guitarist from a rock band or something. Lily deserves better than both Zack and Luke!

If you love romance books this won’t disappoint, and if you loved the first, you’ll love the second just as much, or more. My only real criticism is that the author chose Man City as the home of one of the villains. Surely it should have been United!

From the pitch

A bright future awaits Lily Forshaw, who feels like the luckiest girl in the world. A future she fought for, cried for, and risked her heart and soul for.

Lily’s life is incredible, yet a small, deep scar remains etched upon her heart. A wound that will never truly heal, for the scar is a memory. A memory and a hope of what ifs and what might have been.

Lily’s friendships are about to be tested, her career threatened, and her perfect love is set to falter – can any of this be repaired?

Meanwhile, the man she left in the past, holding a piece of her heart, has found his way back to her at a time when nothing else makes sense anymore.

What will Lily do? Will she fight for what she is about to lose? Or will she seek a new beginning?

Catch up with Lily, Cassie, Zack, and Luke in the hotly anticipated sequel to The Missed Kiss
